What is matcha?

Like all teas, Matcha is cultivated from the tea plant known as Camellia sinensis. Tea leaves grown for Matcha are shade-grown for several weeks, giving it that bright green colour.

Using the first harvest tea leaves (the youngest leaves), we are able to provide the most umami flavours and a higher concentration of L-theanine in our ceremonial grade matcha.
